This Is My Story: Laura Lindwall

7th August 2010

It’s strange how God could use a jungle gym and a tomato allergy to bring me to the assurance that I would go to heaven when I died.

But He did just that.

When my family entered a Bible church for the first time, I was eight years old and unaware that I needed God.

My Advocate

1st August 2010

On Sunday morning, August 1, I delivered a message on the Breastplate of Righteousness

In that message, I referred to a previous message from Psalm 73 (“Your Glorious Reception”) located here in order to learn how to enjoy God’s Blessings, even when you feel beastly.

As part of the message on Sunday morning, I mentioned  this poem by Martha Snell Nicholson

My Advocate

I sinned, and straightway, post-haste, Satan flew
Before the presence of the Most-High God,
And made a railing accusation there.
He said, This soul, this thing of clay and sod,
Has sinned. Tis true that he has named thy Name,
But I demand his death, for Thou has said,
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. Shall not
Thy sentence be fulfilled? Is justice dead?
Send now this wretched sinner to his doom.
What other thing can righteous ruler do?
And thus he did accuse me day and night.
And every word he spoke, Oh God, was true!

Then quickly One rose up from God’s right hand,
Before whose glory angels veiled their eyes.
He spoke. Each jot and tittle of the law
Must be fulfilled The guilty sinner dies!
But wait. Suppose his guilt was all transferred
To Me and that I paid his penalty!
Behold my hands, my side, my feet! One day
I was made sin for him, and died that he,
Might be presented faultless, at Thy throne!
And Satan fled away, full well he knew
That he could not prevail against such love.
For every word my dear Lord spoke was true!

This Is My Story: Bill Logan

10th July 2010

In November 2007, my world crumbled…

The doctor told me that I had Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow.  How could this be? I was physically active, reasonably athletic and fairly strong.

Since I had seen my sister die from this very same cancer some ten years earlier, I thought that in a matter of months, I would die also. This is my story…

Read Bill’s story and listen to his interviews here.

This Is My Story: Mary Haley

8th July 2010

Mary Haley

The neighbor had seen him run the same stop sign many times. One evening as usual the farmer was drunk and as usual he ran the stop sign, but this time there was a car approaching with a mother, a father, and two young children inside.

I am that mother, and this is my story of how God led me to Himself.

Haiti Hope 1/27/10

27th January 2010

Update from Rev. Jan Milton with Operation Renewed Hope

“Haiti Hope” Update, January 27, 2010

Dear Friends of ORH,

Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off. (Proverbs 27:10)

The leaders and workers in the church in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic are  true brothers and helpers to the churches in Haiti.  Thank God for Iglesia Bautista Christiana and Pastor Rodriguez.  His son, Yadin, a pastor at the church, has proven himself to be a real neighbor to those in Haiti.

Air Hope

On Monday, four planes departed from Opa Locka, Florida, fully loaded with people and cargo. These planes encountered a fierce headwind that slowed their progress to a speed of 90 kts at times.  Flying through this headwind consumed a great deal of fuel.

One of the planes, flown by Jack Hunt, had to divert from its primary site (Les Cayes) to Santo Domingo, DR. We now know that if he had proceeded to Les Cayes he would not have been able to make it to Santo Domingo due to the scarcity of fuel. Another pilot, Dave Spangler (of Flying for God) had to carry passengers and relief supplies to Les Cayes (according to the plan laid out in our earlier update).

Children’s Home

Dave’s passengers, Greg Rife and Valerie Stancil had to travel to Les Cayes in order to help Connie Anderson with Macedonia World Baptist Missions Children’s Home. With the Lord’s help, they were able to reach the children’s home over a difficult land route after landing in Les Cayes. We are rejoicing that they were able to take a generator and much needed food supplies to this ministry!
